Caring For Your Extensions

aftercare

A few simple care habits will help keep your natural hair protected between appointments.

Extension Care

  • Brush out any tangles BEFORE showering to avoid matting
K-TIPS
  • Double shampoo around the bonds, use a gentle "Z" motion-no circular scrubbing to prevent tangling.
  • Conditioner is safe throughout the hair, including around the bonds.
BEADED WEFTS
  • Double shampoo, including between the rows, and rinse thoroughly.
REPLICA SCALP
  • Wash once a week with sulfate free product
  • Gently squeeze shampoo and water through the hair- no scrubbing or rubbing

Cleanse

  • Use a boar bristle brush or Tangle Teezer and brush gently from the ends upward, supporting your extensions near the attachment area.

K-TIPS
  • Use your fingers to pull apart and separate each K-tip bond all the way to the scalp 2-3 times each week on dry hair to prevent tangling and matting at the root.

BEADED WEFTS
  • Brush gently below the row.  Do not brush directly over the weft seam.

  • Make sure each row is completely dry after washing.

REPLICA SCALP
  • Thoroughly dry the hair after washing.

  • Use a heat protectant when using hot tools.

  • No ponytails or tension for 72 hours.

Brush & Blowdry

  • Brush thoroughly before bed.
  • Sleep with your hair in a loose braid or low-loose ponytail with a soft scrunchie.
  • A silk pillowcase or bonnet can help reduce friction and tangling
  • NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET EXTENSIONS

Sleep

  • Wet your hair with fresh water before swimming.
  • Shampoo and condition your hair after swimming.
  • Use mineral sunscreen, chemical sunscreens can cause orange discoloration in extension hair.
  • Wear a sunhat during long periods of sun exposure to help protect your extensions from fading.
  • REPLICA SCALP
  • Keep hair out of the water when possible.
  • Excessive exposure to chlorine or salt water can affect the longevity of the Replica system.
