To ensure the health and quality of both your natural hair and your extensions please review my at home care instructions and recommendations.
Extension Care
Brush out any tangles BEFORE showering to avoid matting
Always use Davines shampoo and conditioner (sulfate free)
Gently scrub your scalp while shampooing using the pads of your fingers and make sure to get in between your rows
Complete a double shampoo to fully clean the hair (three shampoos if your hair is extra dirty)
Rinse well, including in between rows
Apply Davines conditioner to the mid lengths and ends, you may use a Wet Brush and brush the conditioner through the extensions to distribute evenly (hold the top of your wefts while brushing)
Use a weekly hair mask to keep the hair in optimal condition
Cleanse
First, get as much moisture out of your extension using a towel
Then spray Davines detangler (DEDE Mist or OI All In One Milk) throughout your hair. Hold the top of your wefts and use a Wet Brush starting from the ends of your hair and work your way up
Be sure to remove all tangles to prevent matting
Apply a Davines heat protectant all throughout your hair and extensions (Melu Heat Sheild or OI All In One Milk)
Section out each row and rough dry your hair 80% of the way using only your fingers
For the last 20% of your blow dry, section down your bottom natural hair and use a brush to smooth and blowdry
Next, drop down your bottom row and blow dry using a paddle brush with minimal tension
Drop down your natural hair in between your rows and blowdry using paddle brush. Then, drop your top row and blowdry using a paddle brush with minimal tension
Lastly, drop down your natural hair on top and blow dry using a paddle or round brush
Brush & Blowdry
Always brush before bed to remove all tangles
Apply Davines OI Oil to the mid-shaft and ends of your extensions
Sleep with your hair in a loose braid or low-loose ponytail using a scrunchie
Sleep on a silk pillowcase—I love placing hair inside a silk bonnet to reduce frizz
Sleep
I do not recommend going in salt water or chlorine with hair extensions. Always wear your hair up when heading to the pool or ocean
SPF protection that is not mineral based can stain hair extensions. Blonde hair extensions are particularly susceptible to discoloration. Only using a mineral-based sunscreen (Bare Republic is my favorite).
Any use of a sunscreen that is not mineral based has ingredients called Avobenzone and Octocrylene that will turn the extensions a pinky-orange color
To help keep your hair extensions from fading, wear a sunhat when you're exposed to sunlight for long periods of time
